Project description
We run a restaurant and we need a tool that shows the real cost and margin of every dish on our menu. Right now we keep recipes in spreadsheets and guess at food cost, which means we never really know whether a plate earns money or quietly drains it. We want a proper system where each recipe is built from ingredients with exact portions and yields, and where the food cost is recalculated automatically the moment an ingredient price changes.
The core of the job is a recipe module: for every dish we enter the components, gross and net weights, cooking loss, and the price per unit of each ingredient. From that the tool should compute the cost of one portion, the sale price we set, the gross margin in both money and percent, and the markup. We also prepare semi-finished items such as sauces, stocks and doughs, so a recipe must be able to include another recipe as an ingredient and pull its cost through. When a supplier sends a new price list, we upload it and every dish that uses those products is revalued at once.
On top of the recipes we need menu engineering: a profitability view that groups dishes into stars, workhorses, puzzles and dogs by combining margin and sales volume, so we can see which positions to promote, reprice or drop. Please include role-based access so chefs edit recipes while managers see costs, an export of technical cards, and a clear history of price changes. Ukrainian and Russian interface, clean and fast, is a strong plus for our kitchen staff.
