Project description
We run a driving school and right now everything lives on paper. Lesson slots are written into a desk diary, student progress is tracked in notebooks kept by each instructor, and payments are marked with a pencil in the margins. When a student calls to move a lesson we flip through pages, cross things out and hope nothing collides. We keep double-booking the same car, we lose track of who still owes for their package, and when someone is ready for the exam we honestly cannot say which topics they have already covered.
We need one system that holds the whole school together. It should manage students and their learning progress, instructors and the cars assigned to them, the lesson calendar, the theory tests, exam bookings and the money side. Each student should have a profile showing completed and remaining hours, mastered manoeuvres, theory results and outstanding balance. Booking a practical lesson must instantly check that the instructor and the specific car are both free, so overlaps become impossible. Instructors need their own view with only their schedule and their students.
On top of that we would like online theory tests with a question bank and automatic scoring, a step for booking the official exam, and payment tracking that shows who paid, for what and how much is left. Reminders about upcoming lessons would save us endless phone calls. Please tell us your suggested stack, timeline and what you would build first.
