Project description
I am looking for an experienced leathercrafter to build a fully custom, hand-stitched carrying case for a pair of over-ear headphones (folding style, ear cups roughly 9 x 7 cm, headband arc about 18 cm across when folded). The case needs to protect the unit during daily commuting and travel, so precision sizing is the top priority — I will provide exact measurements and, ideally, a cardboard template or the headphones themselves for an in-person or mailed fitting check before cutting begins.
Materials: full-grain or vegetable-tanned leather, 1.8-2.2mm thickness, in a color of your recommendation (I am leaning toward a rich chestnut brown or deep espresso). The exterior should have a clean, minimal look — no excess hardware, no visible branding. Construction should be saddle-stitched with waxed thread for strength at the seams, since this case will be opened and closed daily.
Interior: soft suede or microfiber lining glued and stitched to a closed-cell foam padding layer (3-5mm) to cushion the ear cups and headband from knocks. I would like two shaped compartments — one molded recess for the folded headphones and a slim pocket for a charging cable and small adapter. A soft elastic band or leather strap inside to keep the headphones from shifting during transport would be appreciated.
Closure: a YKK-style zipper running around three sides for full access, or alternatively a magnetic snap flap if you think that better suits the folded shape — I am open to your professional recommendation on which closure will hold its shape better over time and protect the stitching from wear.
Personalization: a small blind-debossed monogram (three initials) on the front flap, no ink or foil, just a clean tonal impression.
Timeline: I would like the finished case within 12 days of approving the final pattern and leather sample, including time for a wet-forming or hand-molding step if you use one to shape the ear cup recesses. Please share progress photos at the cutting, stitching, and lining stages so I can confirm everything is on track before final assembly. I am happy to discuss pricing based on your standard rate for a piece of this complexity and will cover materials plus labor.
