Project description
This project covers a complete, professionally wired smart lighting upgrade for an entire house, replacing every standard toggle switch and dimmer with in-wall smart switches that keep full compatibility with existing wiring, including three-way and four-way circuits between hallways, staircases, and shared rooms. Work begins with a walkthrough of the electrical panel and every switch box to confirm neutral wire availability, circuit load, and bulb type, since dimmable LED fixtures require dimmer-rated smart modules rather than standard on/off units.
Installation proceeds room by room: power is cut at the breaker, old switches are removed, in-wall smart switches and dimmers are wired in, and each circuit is tested for correct load behavior and flicker-free dimming before the cover plate goes back on. A central smart hub is mounted in a central location with strong wireless coverage, connected to the home network, and paired with every switch, plus any smart bulbs, plug modules, or motion and door sensors included in the scope.
Once hardware is live, the mobile app is configured with rooms, device names, and user accounts for every household member, including guest access where requested. Scenes are programmed for common moments such as morning wake-up, movie night, away mode, and bedtime, each adjusting multiple lights simultaneously to preset brightness and color temperature. Automations are added on top of scenes: sunset-triggered porch and pathway lighting, motion-activated closet and hallway lights, and scheduled evening dimming for energy savings.
Voice control integration is configured so lights, groups, and scenes can be triggered by spoken commands through a connected voice assistant, with naming conventions kept simple and consistent across rooms. The system is set up with a backup connectivity mode so core switches keep working from the wall even if the network or hub goes offline.
