Project description
We run a community recreation center that offers classes, sports sections, art studios and seasonal activities for children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Today everything is done on paper: people come to the front desk, fill out forms by hand, we copy them into spreadsheets, and staff spend hours chasing schedule conflicts, waitlists and half-paid fees. We need a web-based program registration system that lets residents browse the full catalog of activities, see what fits their age and eligibility, and sign up online without ever standing in line.
The core of the project is a searchable catalog where each program has its own description, age range, prerequisites, capacity, sessions and price. A visitor should be able to filter by category, age group, day of the week and location, then register themselves or a family member in a few clicks. The system must check eligibility automatically — reject an eight-year-old from an adults-only class, warn when a required prior course is missing, and place people on a waitlist when a group is full. We also want memberships and drop-in passes: a member pays once and gets discounted or free access to certain activities, while a drop-in visitor pays per session.
We need room and facility scheduling built in, so that two programs never book the same hall at the same time, and staff can see a visual calendar of every room. Payments should be handled online — card payments, membership renewals, refunds and receipts — with a clear record of who paid for what. Please describe your proposed stack, timeline and how you would migrate our existing paper records.
