Project description
We are a working architecture practice, and today our drawings live in a maze of shared folders where every set has three copies and nobody is certain which one is current. We need a purpose-built system that treats a project as the top-level unit and holds its drawing sets, sheets and revisions in a controlled structure. When a new version of a set is issued, the previous one must not vanish: it should be archived, timestamped and comparable, so the team can always see what changed between revision B and revision C and who signed off on each. Every drawing needs a clear status, a revision code and an owner, and uploading a superseding file should push the older one into history automatically rather than leaving two files with confusing names side by side.
On top of the version store we need real collaboration. Reviewers must be able to open a sheet in the browser, drop markups and comments directly on the drawing, and route it through an approval flow that ends in a recorded decision — approved, approved with comments, or rejected. We coordinate several external consultants (structural, MEP, civil), so the system has to manage RFIs end to end: raise a question against a specific sheet, assign it to the responsible party, track the response and close it with the answer attached to the project record. Deadlines, issue dates and pending approvals should surface on a dashboard so nothing slips, and the whole team should see the same live picture instead of chasing email threads.
We are open to a sensible off-the-shelf foundation extended to fit us, or a focused custom build; either way we care about a clean permission model, reliable file handling for large drawing formats, and an audit trail we can trust.
