Project description
We operate a growing network of smart parcel lockers placed across shops, transit hubs and residential buildings, and we are looking for a development team that can build the software layer behind it. Right now every station is managed manually and we have no single picture of where parcels sit, which cells are free and how each location performs. We need one platform that connects all lockers, shows them on an interactive map with their address, working hours and the number of small, medium and large cells available, and lets customers and couriers interact with the hardware through simple, reliable flows. The core scenario is straightforward but must be bullet-proof: a courier reserves a free cell of the right size, drops the parcel and closes the door, the system issues a unique deposit code, and the recipient later opens the same cell with a PIN or a scanned QR code to collect the shipment.
Every step should be wrapped in clear notifications. When a parcel is placed, the customer must receive a message with the pickup code and the locker address; reminders should follow if the parcel is not collected within the agreed storage window, and the sender or operator must be alerted when a shipment is about to expire and needs to be returned. We want configurable storage periods, automatic release of abandoned cells and a clean audit trail for every open and close event, so nothing is lost and every action can be traced back to a person or a code. Security matters: codes must be single-use where needed, expire on time, and never be guessable, and the courier and customer apps or web screens should feel fast and obvious even to first-time users.
For our own team we need an operator dashboard that turns raw activity into decisions. It should display real-time utilization per station and per cell size, highlight lockers that are almost full or sitting empty, show average storage time and turnover, and flag hardware or connectivity problems before customers do. From this back office our staff should manage locations and cell layouts, extend or free reservations, resolve stuck parcels and export reports for planning where to install the next machines. Please describe your relevant experience with logistics or IoT-style systems, your proposed architecture and stack, how you would handle offline lockers and retries, and a realistic timeline with milestones.
