Project description
We operate a growing courier and last-mile delivery service, and today our dispatchers juggle shipments across spreadsheets, chat messages, and paper run sheets. We need one platform that turns an order into a trackable shipment in a few clicks. The starting point is shipment creation: an operator enters sender and recipient details, package weight and dimensions, declared value, and delivery type, and the system generates a unique tracking number and a printable label with a barcode. Bulk import from a spreadsheet must be supported, because our larger clients hand us dozens of parcels at once and re-typing them by hand is where mistakes and delays are born.
The second pillar is courier assignment and live tracking. Dispatchers should see all open shipments on a board, filter them by zone, weight, and priority, and assign each one to an available courier either manually or with a suggested route. Couriers work from a mobile-friendly view where they accept jobs, update statuses as they move, and capture proof of delivery: a recipient signature, a photo, and an optional one-time code. Every status change writes to a timeline with a timestamp and location, so we always know where a parcel is and who is responsible for it. Failed attempts, reschedules, and returns must be first-class states, not afterthoughts, because they are a daily reality in delivery work.
Finally, our customers need a clean public tracking page. A recipient enters the tracking number and sees the current status, an estimated delivery window, and the full history of movements, with email or messenger notifications on key events such as out-for-delivery and delivered. We care about reliability, clear roles for operators, couriers, and administrators, and an interface that stays fast when hundreds of shipments are in flight.
