Project description
Our family bakery takes dozens of custom cake requests every week over the phone and through messages, and the handoff to the kitchen has become chaotic. We need a web application that lets a customer build their own order and pay a deposit online, while the kitchen sees a clean, ordered work queue. The heart of the app is a cake configurator: the customer picks a base (sponge, chiffon, red velvet, gluten-free), then a filling and cream (chocolate ganache, salted caramel, berry mousse, mascarpone), a size or tier count, and a written inscription. Each choice recalculates the price live and shows an estimated preparation time so we do not oversell a busy Saturday. A pickup-date scheduler must respect our capacity: it should block dates that are already full, enforce a minimum lead time of 48 hours for tiered cakes, and offer available time slots for collection. When the order is confirmed the customer pays a deposit (about thirty percent) through a card processor, and the remainder is marked as due on pickup. On the kitchen side we need an order queue board grouped by pickup day, showing configuration details, allergen flags, deposit status and a print-friendly baking sheet. Bakers move a ticket through stages: accepted, baking, decorating, ready. Deliverables: responsive customer front end, admin panel for flavors and capacity, deposit payment integration, email and SMS notifications, and simple sales reports.
