Project description
We operate a same-day delivery service in a busy metro area and our current mix of spreadsheets, chat groups and phone calls has stopped scaling. Every morning a dispatcher manually splits the order list between couriers, guesses who is closest, and spends the rest of the day chasing status updates. We need a purpose-built courier and last-mile delivery management app that turns this chaos into a clean pipeline: an order comes in, it is queued for pickup, a driver is assigned, the route is planned, and everyone from the dispatcher to the end customer can see exactly where the parcel is. This is a logistics tool for managing couriers and deliveries, not a geocoding library and not an online store checkout.
The core of the app is the dispatcher console and the driver flow. Dispatchers should see all open orders and available couriers on one screen, assign or reassign jobs by drag and drop or automatically by proximity and current load, and batch several stops into an optimized route for one driver. Couriers get a mobile view with their assigned stops in order, turn-by-turn navigation handoff, and simple buttons to mark pickup, in transit, delivered or failed. Proof of delivery must be captured on the spot: photo, recipient signature, and an optional one-time code. Live GPS from the driver devices should stream back so the dispatch map shows real positions, and a clean public tracking page lets each customer follow their own delivery and see an accurate ETA without any login.
