Service description
I am a Linux desktop developer who specialises in the GNOME platform, and I build native applications with Vala and GTK from the ground up. Over the years I have focused entirely on the desktop rather than the web or mobile, so I know how a GNOME app should feel: it follows the human interface guidelines, respects light and dark styling, adapts to different window sizes, and stays responsive because the heavy work runs off the main loop. Whether you need a brand new utility, a modern rewrite of an ageing GTK3 tool, or a small daemon with a clean tray presence, I can take it from an empty repository to a working, installable product.

My core craft is Vala on top of GObject, which lets me write expressive, memory-safe code that still compiles down to plain C and links against the whole GNOME stack. I design proper libraries with stable GObject introspection, wire up asynchronous input and output so the interface never freezes, and use GSettings, GResource and libadwaita widgets the way the platform intends. When a project needs performance-critical pieces I drop down to C and bind them cleanly, and I am comfortable with the Meson build system that modern GNOME projects rely on.

Finally, I care about shipping. A desktop app is only useful once people can install it, so I package with Flatpak, set up sensible manifests and permissions, handle icons, desktop entries and translations, and make sure the result runs the same across distributions. I keep a clear commit history and documentation so your team can keep building after I hand the work over.

— Native GNOME apps in Vala and GTK4 with libadwaita
— GObject libraries with GObject Introspection bindings
— Asynchronous input and output, GSettings, GResource and D-Bus integration
— Meson build setup and C interop for hot paths
— Flatpak packaging, manifests, icons and desktop integration
