Project description
I recently purchased a smart programmable thermostat and am looking for a master who will carefully remove the old mechanical regulator and install the new device in its place. The main difficulty is the wiring: I am not sure how many wires are connected behind the wall panel and whether there is a common wire (usually marked with the letter C). I need someone who understands low-voltage control circuits for residential heating and air conditioning systems, can correctly identify the purpose of terminals R, W, Y, G and others, and can safely disconnect the old device before installing the new one.
If there is no common wire, I would like to hear sound advice on a solution — running a new cable inside the wall, using an appropriate adapter or another method accepted in the industry — rather than guessing and risking damaging the equipment. The scope of work includes: powering down the heating and air conditioning system at the breaker before starting work, removing the old thermostat and its wall plate, removing or masking traces of the previous fastening on the wall, installing the new base plate strictly level, connecting each wire to the correct terminal and mounting the smart thermostat display.
After completing the connections, the system needs to be tested in heating and cooling modes to ensure that the fan, compressor and heating elements respond correctly to commands from the new controller. I also ask for help connecting the thermostat to the home network so that mobile app and remote scheduling control work, and briefly show me the menu for setting up scheduling, temperature reduction modes and energy-saving functions. Please tell me about your experience with similar installations, whether you have a basic tool kit and voltage tester, and roughly how long all the work will take. I prefer a master who can confirm experience with similar work by examples, follows safety rules when working with electrical connections and leaves the work area clean. I will be grateful for a brief written memo of the work completed indicating which wire was connected to which terminal — in case it is needed in the future. Please indicate the cost and the nearest convenient time, and also let me know if you need additional information about the model of my furnace or air handler before starting work.
