Service description
I offer mobile inspection of the underwater portion of vessels and hydraulic structures using a compact remotely operated vehicle (ROV). This method replaces hauling a boat ashore or hiring a diver when you simply need to assess hull condition: biological growth, hull damage, protector wear, propeller state, rudder and thruster status, as well as through-hull fittings and intake filters. The device is compact, quiet, and maneuverable — it works close to the hull right at the marina, at anchor, or at the dock without disturbing neighboring vessels.
Work typically begins with a brief conversation about the task: pre-purchase inspection, routine growth check before the season or regatta, damage assessment for insurance, or inspection of dock pilings and anchor chains for corrosion and biofouling. On site, I lower the drone from the dock or a small boat and guide it along the hull on a clear path — keel, waterline, thruster tunnel, shaft, propeller, rudder, and transom — recording continuous high-resolution video with its own lighting that ensures good visibility even in murky or dark water. If needed, I use sonar or laser scale reference to assess growth thickness and gaps.
After the dive you receive an edited video file or a series of short timestamped clips, plus a simple written report describing the condition of each hull section and photos from the video of anything noteworthy — cracks, hull blisters, protector wear, entangled rope, or heavy fouling. The report is written in clear language suitable for both vessel owners and marina managers, insurers, brokers, and surveyors. Materials are transmitted via download link or as a separate file.
