Project description
We are looking for an experienced technician or a small contracting team to install a dedicated whole-basement dehumidifier system in a residential home. The basement has been showing early signs of dampness — a musty smell after rain, slight condensation on the foundation walls, and a noticeably higher humidity reading than the rest of the house. We want to get ahead of any mold problem before it becomes visible or structural.
Scope of work includes selecting and mounting a dehumidifier unit sized correctly for the basement square footage and typical humidity load, running a permanent condensate drain line to the nearest floor drain or a sump pit so the unit never needs manual emptying, and wiring it into a dedicated outlet if the existing circuit cannot handle continuous duty. We also want a humidity monitoring setup — either a built-in hygrometer with a digital readout or a separate wireless sensor placed away from the unit — so we can track relative humidity over time and confirm the system is holding the space in the target range, generally between 45 and 55 percent.
If the basement has any ductwork or is partially finished, we would like the contractor's opinion on whether ducting the dehumidifier output to more than one room makes sense, or whether a single central unit is sufficient given the layout. Please also advise on placement to avoid airflow obstructions from stored items, shelving, or the furnace and water heater.
We are not asking for wall waterproofing or vapor barrier work as part of this job — this is strictly about installing the dehumidification equipment, its drainage, its electrical connection, and the monitoring piece so we have ongoing visibility into basement humidity levels. A brief walkthrough with photos of the finished setup, a written explanation of the unit and settings chosen, and basic instructions for filter cleaning and seasonal maintenance would be appreciated once the work is complete.
Please include in your proposal your relevant experience with similar installations, an estimated timeline, and any equipment capacity recommendations you would make for a basement of roughly 900 to 1200 square feet with moderate humidity issues. We would also like to know what warranty or follow-up support you offer on the installed equipment and the labor itself.
