Project description
My mother recently had hip surgery and can no longer manage our staircase safely on her own, so we have decided to install a stairlift rather than move her to a single-level home. We need an experienced technician or small installation crew to fit a seated stairlift on our indoor staircase, which runs in a single straight flight of about fourteen steps connecting the ground floor to the upstairs bedrooms.
The unit itself has already been selected and ordered from a reputable accessibility equipment supplier — a straight-rail model rated for daily use with a swivel seat and folding footrest — so this project is specifically about professional installation, not sourcing the equipment. We do need you to confirm the model is compatible with our staircase width and railing setup before work begins, since the stairs are slightly narrower than average at the top landing.
Scope of work includes: measuring the staircase precisely, mounting the aluminum rail securely to the stair treads (not the wall, since our wall is drywall over a stud pattern that may not support the load), wiring the unit to a nearby outlet or hardwiring it per code, testing the call/send stations at both the top and bottom landings, and demonstrating safe operation for our family including the seatbelt, swivel lock, and emergency stop button.
We are also asking that you assess whether any structural reinforcement is needed at the stair treads before the rail is bolted down, and flag this clearly if additional carpentry work is required — we would rather know now than have a rail come loose later. Please bring your own tools and any specialty brackets required for this exact stairlift brand and model.
We need someone licensed and insured for this kind of accessibility equipment work, with references or photos from at least two comparable straight-stairlift installations. Cleanliness matters — please protect the flooring and walls during installation and haul away all packaging afterward. Timeline is somewhat urgent since my mother is currently sleeping in a downstairs guest room and we would like her back in her own bedroom as soon as it is safely possible. Please include your quote, expected completion time, and warranty terms on the labor when you respond.
