Project description
Our upright piano has not been tuned in a long time — probably several years — and it has started to sound noticeably off. Some notes waver against each other, chords that used to sound clean now sound muddy, and a few keys seem to have lost their brightness entirely. We are not looking for anyone to move the piano or do any cabinet refinishing, just a proper tuning and a general health check of the instrument itself, done in our home.
The piano is a standard upright, kept in a living room away from direct sunlight or heating vents, so we don't believe there is any serious humidity or temperature damage, but it would be good to have a professional confirm that. Because it has drifted so far from standard pitch, we understand this may require a pitch raise followed by a fine tuning pass rather than a single quick tuning, and we are fine with that if it means the result actually holds.
We would like the technician to also check the action briefly — a couple of keys feel slightly sticky and one hammer looks like it may need minor attention — and let us know honestly whether these are quick fixes or things that need a separate follow-up visit. We are flexible on scheduling during the coming week and can provide clear daytime access to the instrument.

— Full aural or electronic tuning to standard concert pitch (A440)
— Pitch raise first if the piano has dropped significantly flat
— Quick inspection of action, sticky keys, and dampers
— Honest notes on the instrument's overall condition
— Recommendation on how often it should be tuned going forward
