Project description
We recently went through a multi-day power outage after a storm and lost hundreds of dollars in spoiled food, plus had no heat or hot water for our family the whole time. We've decided it's time to install a proper whole-home standby backup generator so this never happens again, and we're looking for a licensed, experienced electrician to handle the full installation from start to finish.
The system should run on natural gas or propane (we're open to your recommendation based on what works best for our home) and needs to include an automatic transfer switch so the generator kicks in within seconds of losing utility power, without us having to do anything manually. We want the whole house covered, not just a few circuits, so please size the unit appropriately for our home's electrical load. We also need the work done to code, with all necessary permits pulled and a final inspection scheduled.
We're flexible on scheduling but would like the work completed within a reasonable timeframe, and we'd appreciate clear communication throughout the project about timeline, any additional costs, and what to expect during installation. Please include your licensing and insurance information with your proposal.
What we need done:
— Assess our home's electrical panel and recommend the appropriate generator size
— Supply and install a whole-home standby generator with an automatic transfer switch
— Run all necessary wiring, coordinate the gas/propane line, and handle grounding
— Pull required permits and schedule the final inspection
— Test the automatic start/transfer function and walk us through operation and maintenance
