Project description
A restaurant wants to accept delivery orders through a messenger bot and is looking for a developer to build it from scratch. Guests should browse the menu right inside the chat — dish photos, short descriptions, and prices — and add items to a cart without leaving the conversation. The bot needs to calculate the order total automatically, add the delivery fee, and apply a promo code if the guest has one.
Checkout is a separate flow: delivery address, a time slot (nearest available window or a specific hour), payment method, and a comment for the kitchen. After the order is placed, the guest should get automatic status updates — received, being prepared, handed to the courier, on the way, delivered — so nobody has to call to check on readiness. Staff need a simple way to see incoming orders with contents, total, and requested time, and to change the status with one click.
Several technical approaches are on the table — a ready-made bot builder or a fully custom solution on our own server with a database for the menu, orders, and customers. Open to suggestions on architecture, as long as it stays reliable during rush-hour spikes and doesn't lose data on failures.
What matters most:
— menu with photos and options (spice level, portion size, extra toppings);
— cart with quantity changes and item removal;
— delivery time and address selection with a service-area check;
— automatic status notifications for both guests and staff.
