About the service
I work on creating online booking systems for boat stations and water transport rental, and there is one thing most standard solutions overlook — the preparation time for a vessel between rentals. A client returned a jet ski or catamaran, but it still needs to be refueled, hull inspected, seats wiped and moved back to the dock — these are real minutes, sometimes an hour. If the calendar doesn't account for this, you get a double booking of the same vessel and a disappointed client who arrived on time but the boat is still being cleaned.
In my systems the client first selects the vessel type — boat, catamaran, jet ski or whatever you have in your fleet, — then the rental date and duration, and the calendar shows only those vessels that are actually free accounting for preparation time. The buffer is set separately for each vessel type: a jet ski needs ten minutes, a catamaran with a cabin needs an hour. Then the system calculates everything itself, without phone calls to the administrator and without manual notes in a notebook.
Besides the booking form I set up a fleet management panel, online payment and deposit collection, automatic confirmations and reminders to clients via SMS or messenger, as well as a screen for station staff — who takes what and when they return it. If needed I add weather rules — for example, blocking bookings during storm warnings.
What is included in the work:
— vessel catalog with types, capacity and prices
— availability calendar with customizable preparation buffer
— online payment and deposit collection
— staff panel for the station
— automatic client notifications
