Project description
I want to commission custom embroidery on a denim jacket I already own — a medium-weight, classic trucker-style jacket in mid-blue wash, unlined, size men's medium. The jacket itself doesn't need any repair, just the artwork. I'm looking for someone who can either work with a jacket I mail to you, or source a comparable blank jacket yourself if that's easier logistically — I'm open to either approach, whichever keeps quality and turnaround predictable.
The main design goes across the full back yoke and lower back panel: a large botanical piece — wildflowers and trailing vines — rendered mostly in satin stitch for the petals and leaves, with stem stitch for the finer vine lines and a bit of French knots worked in for texture where the flower centers sit. I'd like this done by hand rather than on a machine; the slight irregularity of hand stitching is exactly the look I'm after, not a crisp machine-perfect fill. Thread should be a mix of warm rust, dusty sage green, and a cream off-white — no bright primary colors, please keep the palette muted so it reads as worn-in rather than costume-like.
On the front, I want two much smaller accents: a short line of script lettering (a name, six letters) on the left chest in matching cream thread, and a tiny single-flower motif on the right cuff, echoing the back design at a much smaller scale. Please avoid anything overly dense on the front — I still want to be able to layer a shirt underneath without the embroidery feeling stiff or bulky against the body.
Before starting the actual stitching, I'd like to see a drawn or digitally mocked-up layout of the back design placed on a jacket photo, plus a small thread-color swatch, so we can confirm placement and palette before any needle touches fabric. I can send exact measurements of the back panel and photos of the jacket from multiple angles. Timeline is flexible within the stated window, but I'd appreciate a rough stitching schedule once we agree on the design so I know when to expect progress photos. Please include in your proposal: examples of prior denim or heavy-fabric embroidery work, roughly how many hours you estimate for a back panel this size, and whether you handle hooping and stabilizing heavy denim yourself or need me to prep the jacket in any way beforehand.
