Project description
Looking for someone to design and install a complete custom storage system inside an existing walk-in closet, roughly 7 by 9 feet with an 8-foot ceiling. Right now it is one sad wire shelf and a single rod — I want it converted into a proper layout with distinct zones: one wall for double-hung short rods (shirts, folded trousers) stacked over a second short rod, an adjacent wall with a single long rod for dresses and coats, and a bank of five soft-close drawers of graduated depth for underlayers, socks and accessories. Above the rods I would like adjustable shelving that can hold sweater stacks and bins, and a dedicated shoe section with slanted shelves for roughly twenty pairs.
Material preference is melamine-faced board in a light oak or white finish (not raw MDF), edge-banded on all visible edges, with soft-close drawer slides and hinges rated for daily use. Everything should be laid out on an adjustable shelf-pin system rather than fixed pegs, so the configuration can change later if my needs change. A center island with a countertop surface for folding and a jewelry tray insert would be a nice add if it fits the footprint and budget — happy to discuss as an optional line item.
Process expected: an in-person or video measurement visit, a scaled layout drawing for approval before any cutting, then fabrication and a single-day (or two-day) installation with all packaging and offcuts hauled away. Closet walls are drywall over standard studs, no known plumbing or electrical inside the space. Please include in your proposal: your typical material and hardware brands, whether you build off-site and install panels or build in place, expected lead time from approved drawing to install day, and how you handle wall anchoring on stud spacing that may not be perfectly even. Portfolio photos of at least two finished closets with drawer banks (not just shelving) are required to be considered — I want to see drawer construction quality specifically, not just the overall look.
