Project description
We need a contractor to calculate materials for and install a new fence around our backyard. The yard currently has no fencing along two sides, and there is an old, damaged section on a third side that needs to be removed and hauled away before the new fence goes in. We are open to either wood (cedar or pressure-treated pine) or vinyl, and would like your recommendation once you have seen the site and discussed pricing, appearance, and long-term durability with us.
The job includes setting posts in concrete footings at a consistent spacing, installing panels or pickets at an even height along the entire run, and building both a single walk-through gate and a wider double gate wide enough for a riding mower or small equipment to pass through. We want the finished fence to be plumb, level, and sturdy enough to hold up to normal wind in our area without sagging or leaning within the first year.
We are looking for someone with real residential fencing experience who can walk the property with us, provide a clear materials list and rough layout sketch, and give us a realistic schedule for the work, including how weather might affect the timeline. Please also describe how you handle marking underground utility lines before digging post holes, since we want that done properly and safely.
What we need done:
— On-site measurement and a detailed cost and materials estimate
— Post setting in concrete footings at even, code-appropriate spacing
— Wood or vinyl panel or picket installation at a consistent height and line
— One single walk-gate plus one wider double gate for equipment access
— Removal and disposal of the old fence section
— Utility line marking completed before any digging begins
