Project description
We operate a busy driving school and currently juggle enrolments, instructor rosters and car availability across paper folders and a couple of spreadsheets. It no longer scales. We are looking for a developer to build a management app tailored to how a driving school actually works: a student signs up for a package, gets assigned to an instructor and a vehicle, books practical lessons around everyone's availability, and moves step by step toward being ready for the exam. We want the whole journey in one place, from the first enrolment call to the final test-readiness sign-off.

The core is scheduling that respects real constraints. A lesson slot needs a free student, a free instructor and a free car at the same time, so the calendar has to prevent double-booking across all three and show gaps that can be filled. Each student should have a progress record: which manoeuvres and topics have been covered, how many practical hours remain in their package, instructor notes after every lesson, and a simple readiness indicator for both the theory test and the practical exam. Theory-test tracking matters to us — we want to log attempts, scores and retakes so nobody is sent to the exam unprepared. Payments should tie into all of this: package price, what has been paid, what is outstanding, and a clear balance per student.

We are open to your stack recommendation but want a clean, mobile-friendly interface, because instructors will check schedules and mark lesson outcomes from their phones between lessons. Roles matter: administrators manage everything, instructors see only their own students and calendar, and ideally students get a light view of their upcoming lessons and remaining hours. Please share relevant examples of scheduling or education apps you have built. Tell us how you would model instructors, cars and lesson slots, and how long you estimate the first working version would take.

— Student enrolment with packages, assigned instructor and vehicle
— Conflict-free scheduling across students, instructors and cars
— Lesson progress log with per-lesson instructor notes and remaining hours
— Theory-test and practical-exam readiness tracking, attempts and retakes
— Payment tracking: package price, paid, outstanding balance per student
— Role-based access for admins, instructors and students, mobile-friendly
