Project description
We run a restaurant and currently take table reservations mostly by phone, which is slow during busy hours and leads to mistakes: two guests end up seated at the same table, a booking gets forgotten, or the headcount does not match who actually shows up. We want to replace this with a simple online reservation tool built into our existing website instead of relying on calls and handwritten notes.
The guest side should be straightforward: a form where a visitor picks a date, an arrival time, and the number of people, then leaves a name and a way to reach them. Right after submitting, the guest should automatically receive a confirmation by email or a short message, so they know the table is actually held and not just requested.
On the staff side we need one screen showing the dining room as a floor plan, with tables marked free or booked for each time slot, so whoever is seating guests sees the full picture instead of checking a paper notebook or a shared spreadsheet. We would also like basic settings for table capacity, service hours, and a minimum notice period before arrival.
What we expect from the finished result:
— booking form with date, time, party size, name and contact, with a check for overlapping bookings;
— floor-plan admin view showing tables and their status per time slot;
— automatic confirmation to the guest by email or message, ideally with a cancellation note;
— simple settings for table capacity, service hours and minimum booking notice.
