About the service
I install solar power systems on motorhomes, campers, vans, and trailers right in your yard, at a parking spot, or at a campsite — no need to haul the vehicle anywhere. I start by inspecting the roof, existing 12V/24V wiring, and talking about how you use the vehicle: autonomous parking, seasonal trips, or permanent living. This determines the calculation of panel power and battery bank capacity — based on actual consumption, not a template.
The typical scope of work includes: mounting rigid or flexible panels on brackets with angle adjustment or a low-profile variant flush with the roof, running cable of the required gauge through sealed cable glands, installing an MPPT or PWM charge controller matched to the panel power, connecting the controller to a new or existing battery bank (lead-acid, AGM, or lithium), installing fuses and disconnects per electrical safety rules, and on request — a shunt for charge monitoring or a display with an app. I always make roof holes using through-bolt fastening with a reinforcing plate of aluminum or fiberglass where the sheathing is thin, and seal with self-leveling sealant plus an additional bead around the perimeter — this combination survives temperature swings and road vibration without cracking within a season.
I carry panels, controllers, cable, connectors, fuses, and sealant with me, so installing one or two panels typically fits in one visit; larger systems with a lithium bank and inverter connection I schedule over two visits so the sealant has time to cure. Before sign-off, I verify actual charge current in the sun, voltage drop on the line, and show you how to read the controller settings and monitor the system daily. I give you a wiring diagram and provide a warranty on installation and sealing.
I travel the region and can come to a campsite or rally if you're en route between stops — send me the panel wattage (or I'll help calculate it), roof photos, and typical consumption, and I'll quote you a fixed price before work begins.
