Project description
We run an online booking flow and keep losing visitors right at the last step: they open the order page, look around, then close the tab without finishing. There's no way to find out why, so I need a developer to build a small popup that catches the moment a visitor's cursor moves toward the browser's close or back button and shows a short one-question survey instead of a silent exit.
Instead of a generic "don't go" banner, the popup should ask one direct question, something like "What's stopping you from finishing your order?", with a few clickable options such as price, unclear terms, technical issue, just browsing, or other, plus a small optional comment field. The tone should stay friendly, not a hard modal that traps the visitor.
The tricky part is timing: the trigger needs to read real cursor movement toward the top of the page, fire at most once per visit, and remember on return visits that a person already answered or dismissed it. It should also degrade gracefully on touch devices, using a scroll or back-button fallback instead of cursor tracking.
What I expect:
— a lightweight script, no heavy framework dependency
— configurable question text and answer options
— storage logic limiting how often the popup appears
— a simple way to view or export collected answers
