Project description
We run an art gallery and we are drowning in spreadsheets. Every artwork, every artist, every price change, and every sale currently lives in a tangle of files that only one person truly understands, and we need a proper web platform that finally brings all of it into one place. The core of the project is a catalog of artists and artworks where each piece carries its full record: title, medium, dimensions, year, edition, condition, current asking price, and a complete provenance history showing where the work came from and who owned it before us. We want high quality images with zoom, tidy artist profiles, and the ability to mark a work as available, reserved, on loan, or sold at a glance.
Around that catalog we need the working tools of a gallery. Exhibitions should be first class objects: we build a show, attach the works on display, set opening and closing dates, and later see what each exhibition sold. Collectors and buyers write to us with inquiries and offers, and we want those conversations tracked against the specific artwork instead of getting lost in email, with a clear path from an offer to a negotiated price to a confirmed sale. Sales and consignment tracking matters just as much: many pieces belong to artists or other owners on consignment, so the system must record the agreed split, calculate what we owe after a sale, and keep an honest ledger of settlements.
Finally we need a lightweight collector CRM so we understand our buyers, their tastes, past purchases, and budget range, and can quietly offer the right new work to the right person. Roles matter because gallery staff, an accountant, and the owner should see different things, and prices or consignment terms must never leak to the public side. Please propose a clean, calm interface that respects the artwork and is fast to use during a busy opening.
Key modules we expect:
— Artist and artwork catalog with provenance and pricing
— Exhibitions with attached works and per show sales
— Inquiries, offers and negotiation history
— Sales and consignment tracking with settlements
— Collector CRM with roles and access control
