Service description
I build home climbing walls for garages, basements, storage closets, or children's rooms. This is not a ready-made kit from a store, but a custom structure for your specific space: I measure the room, help you choose the wall angle (vertical, with slight overhang, or a combination with a short ceiling section) and design the layout of plywood panels mounted on a wooden frame that attaches to studs, floor joists, or a separate substructure if the existing wall isn't designed for the load.
The work starts with an on-site visit or video inspection: I check ceiling height, floor type, stud spacing, and obstacles — windows, outlets, ventilation ducts. Then I create a simple diagram with panel dimensions, hole spacing for threaded inserts (usually a grid roughly 20 cm apart), and placement for the landing mat. I select the frame lumber based on actual spans, and choose plywood — moisture-resistant or birch — depending on budget and finish requirements. Each panel is drilled and fitted with threaded inserts before installation so holds can be repositioned and rotated without re-drilling.
Installation includes secure attachment of the frame to load-bearing elements, sealing joints between panels, sanding edges, and final inspection of each bolt with a torque wrench before completion. I can additionally install a starter set of screw-on holds and volume shapes, arrange them into a beginner-level route, and show you how to reposition them yourself afterward. For a child's room, I keep the height and angle conservative and always recommend a thick gymnastics mat or protective landing mat under the wall.
I work with what's already there: an unfinished basement corner, garage wall, or spare bedroom wall typically can be converted without major structural changes to the house.
