Custom Motorcycle Helmet Painting: Original Airbrushed Design
Service description
I'm a freelance artist working with airbrushing and hand-painting motorcycle helmets. I take YOUR helmet — not a template from a catalog — and transform it into an original work of art that reflects your bike's character and your riding style. You send the helmet by mail or bring it in person, and all work is done on the actual surface you'll be riding with.
The project starts with a detailed discussion: what's your bike and riding style, what colors and imagery appeal to you — flames, skulls, tribal patterns, portrait, flag, team logo, reference to your favorite music or film, any text or lettering. From that conversation I prepare two or three sketches digitally so you can see the composition before the brush touches the helmet. After sketch approval, the surface is sanded and degreased, ventilation and fasteners are covered with painter's tape, an even base coat is applied, and then the design is built in layers — with airbrush, fine brushes and hand-cut stencils. I use metallics, candy effects, smooth gradients, realistic shading and fine line work.
Each finished helmet is coated with several layers of automotive clear coat, polished to a deep gloss — this protects the design from sun fading, road dust and minor scratches, so the helmet can actually be worn on rides, not just displayed on a shelf. If you prefer, I also do matte finishes — for a more understated, 'tactical' look.
Work time is usually 7–14 days depending on design complexity and revision requests; at each major stage — base coat, lines, shading, final clear coat — I send a photo report so the result isn't a surprise. My portfolio includes helmets with flames and skulls for cruisers, sportbike helmets in race livery style, a regimental crest for a veteran client, and several matching 'helmet plus tank' sets completed together with local motorcycle paint specialists.
If you already have a helmet, send me the brand, model and shell material so I can select compatible paints and clear coat; if you don't have one yet, I'll recommend which DOT or ECE certified models take custom painting well. We'll make a helmet that turns heads at every traffic light.
