1. "I'll do everything myself!" This is a very commendable attitude that truly deserves respect. Many people take on organizing an event and really do everything themselves, do it well, and sometimes even with inexhaustible enthusiasm. Talented producers and planners are formed from such people in the future. But even they are overtaken by fatigue toward the end of the event. And when your nerves are on edge, how can you enjoy your own celebration? So, before agreeing with this belief, answer these questions for yourself:
- Will you be able to foresee every little detail (how to set up the speakers, where to turn the lights, when to come out to the guests - in short, everything that deserves a separate article)?
- Do you have trusted, reliable contractors who will bring all your ideas to life without exceeding the budget three times over?
- Are you ready, on your own (a relative's, a friend's, a colleague's) celebration, to handle the supervision and coordination of all the services?
- Are you sure that in an unforeseen situation (the cake didn't arrive, the decorator brought the wrong bouquet, the bride is having a tantrum) you will quickly find the right solution?
- Do you enjoy this?
- Are you a person with an inexhaustible supply of energy that will last for the preparation and running of the event?
If you answered yes to all the questions, you are either being disingenuous, or you are a planner, or it is time to become one (seriously, think about it!).
2. "A planner will inflate our modest budget". No! A planner is the only link able to keep your budget in check. First, the planner has a whole base of trusted contractors for any taste and.. budget. Second, the planner knows the mechanisms and options for saving money, will offer alternative solutions, or simply remind you that your budget is not made of rubber)))
3. "It's cheaper to go directly". This is the most widespread belief, which we will boldly call a misconception. The cost of a project from a contractor directly will not differ in any way from the cost through a planner, if only because planners do not work with dishonest contractors (if he cheats an agency, what guarantee is there that he won't cheat you too?). And even more, planners, be it an agency or a private person, have their own discounts with partners. But even if that doesn't satisfy you, the planner will find you an alternative solution. Or, again, remind you that your budget is not made of rubber))))
4. "We have our own cool photographer/videographer, thanks". Is that true? Show him to us, we'll add him to our team! This belief perhaps cannot be called a trap one hundred percent. If you really have a person you are completely and fully confident in, we will only support you. It really is great when you have already worked with someone, the person knows what is best for you and how to approach you. In all other cases, planners select a photographer/videographer from their base who will suit precisely you, your concept, your budget, your requirements and wishes, and who will deliver the footage on time in proper quality.
5. "A planner is just a middleman who does nothing". A good planner will live through every detail, every minute, every smile of your event with you, starting from the first meeting. Together you will come up with and work out the concept, the planner will take all your wishes into account and offer options for their implementation so that, when the time comes, everything planned is brought to life in the best possible way. A good planner is not just a person who hands your money to the decorators and hosts; he will be your mentor, support, partner and friend who roots for you and your event together with you, and sometimes even more than you. A planner is the connecting link that works to make your event a single organism in which all the services perform their functions correctly and on time. Without this link, what usually happens is like in the famous fable about the swan, the crayfish and the pike. What is more, a planner is a person called upon to preserve your strength, nerves, energy, time and budget in order to create for you an unforgettable event full of color and joy, free from unnecessary fuss, which will let you fully enjoy the happy moments.
Summing up, we want to note that in organizing events there are no extremes. Everyone is free to choose: to go alone or with a partner. Both are good - it's just important to correctly assess your own strength!
