Project description
We run a website that our customers visit regularly from their phones, and right now every visit means opening a browser, typing in the address, and waiting for a full page load — even when the connection is weak or unavailable. We want to turn this site into a progressive web application so that people can add an icon to their home screen and open it like a real app, without ever going through an app store.

The core requirement is offline resilience: key pages, images, and cached data should still load when the network drops, using a service worker and a proper caching strategy. On top of that we need push notifications that work on both Android and iOS home-screen installs, so we can reach users about updates and messages the same way a native app would. The installation prompt should feel natural, not intrusive, and the app should pass the basic installability checks so browsers offer the add-to-home-screen option automatically.

We are not looking for a rebuild from scratch. The existing structure, design, and content should stay intact — the job is to wrap the site properly with a manifest, service worker, caching rules, and a notification backend, then test it on major mobile browsers.

What we expect from the freelancer:
— Audit of the current site and a plan for what needs to change
— Working manifest and service worker configuration
— Offline caching for the main pages and static assets
— Push notification setup with an opt-in flow
— Testing on Android and iOS, with a short report on any limitations
