Outdoor Kitchen and BBQ Island Construction Service
Service description
I build permanent outdoor kitchens and BBQ islands for backyards, patios and covered lanais, handling the whole project from the footing to the final polish on the countertop. Most builds start with a concrete pad or slab extension, then move to CMU block or steel-stud frame construction faced with stone veneer, stucco, brick or tile — whichever matches the house and the client's budget. I've framed straight runs, L-shapes and U-shaped islands with bar seating, and I size every cabinet cavity to the exact appliance being dropped in rather than forcing a generic opening.
Grill integration is where a lot of amateur builds go wrong, so I plan ventilation, gas line routing and clearance to combustibles before a single block goes down. I've installed built-in gas grills, charcoal kamado units, pellet smokers, side burners, griddles and pizza ovens, and I coordinate directly with a licensed plumber for natural gas or propose the correct tank placement for propane. Electrical runs for outlets, task lighting and refrigeration are roughed in during framing so nothing gets chased through finished masonry later.
Countertop options I regularly install include poured concrete, granite, quartz, tile and natural stone slab, each with the appropriate edge profile and overhang for bar seating. I also build in storage — weatherproof cabinet doors, drawer stacks, trash pull-outs and open shelving for wood or charcoal. Plumbing hookups for a bar sink or beverage station are run to code with proper backflow prevention.
Typical turnaround is one to two weeks depending on island size and whether utility trenching is required. I provide a written scope with material allowances up front, source appliances either from client selections or my supplier contacts, and leave every job site swept and protected during the pour and cure stages. References and photos of completed islands available on request.
