Lua Developer — Game Scripts, Mods, Embedded and OpenResty Logic

Alex

PHP Developer & API Architect
Service description
I am a Lua developer, and Lua is the one language I have spent years getting genuinely deep with rather than treating as a side skill. I write gameplay scripts and mods for engines that embed Lua, I build embedded scripting layers that let non-programmers safely configure behavior, and I design request-handling logic for Nginx and OpenResty. If you have a host application in C, C++, or any runtime that exposes a Lua binding, I can write the scripts that live inside it, wire up the API surface your designers or operators actually need, and keep the whole thing predictable under load.

My work sits in a different niche from the Unity, Unreal, and Godot generalists and from ordinary backend developers. I care about the details that matter when Lua is the glue: coroutine-based flow, careful memory and garbage-collection behavior, sandboxing untrusted user scripts, metatables and clean module boundaries, and the exact cost of every call that crosses the C boundary. On the OpenResty side I write access, rewrite, and content phase handlers, gateway and API-plugin logic, rate limiting, auth checks, and shared-dictionary caching that stays correct when thousands of requests hit it at once.

Practically, that means I can extend an existing modding system, hand your team a documented scripting API, refactor a tangle of legacy Lua into readable modules, or stand up an OpenResty gateway that does real routing and request shaping instead of hard-coded rules. Every deliverable comes with tests where the runtime allows them, clear comments, and notes on how to extend it. Tell me which engine, host, or gateway you are on and what the scripts must do, and I will tell you honestly what fits.

— Gameplay scripts and mods for Lua-embedding engines
— Embedded scripting layers and configurable behavior for host apps
— Nginx/OpenResty access, rewrite and content handlers
— API gateway and request-logic plugins, rate limiting, auth
— Sandboxing and safe execution of untrusted user scripts
— Refactoring legacy Lua into clean, documented modules
