Project description
The bodies should be made of wood and dried gourd, ideally a mix of both, with handles that fit a grown hand and do not twist loose after an hour of hard playing. Our sessions are energetic, so the build has to survive shaking, knocking against knees and the occasional drop on a wooden floor. I would love bright, hand-painted decoration so each tone is easy to recognise at a glance, plus a sturdy drawstring bag to keep the set together between rehearsals.
Please tell me your timeline, what you would suggest for the tonal split across the twelve pieces, and whether the budget works for you. Photos of similar pieces you have made would help me decide.
— 12 pieces in total: shakers and maracas in at least four clearly different tones
— bodies of wood and gourd, comfortable and firmly fixed handles
— bright hand painting, colour linked to the tone
— durable storage bag for the whole set
— the filling is made of small particles, so every body must be sealed shut and impact-tested before delivery
— this set is for adults only and is not suitable for children under three
— a cracked body is never patched with tape: that shaker is set aside until it is properly repaired
