Project description
The tone has to match across the batch. The housing and the covers sit edge to edge, so half a shade of difference will be obvious to anyone who picks the device up. I understand that the alloy decides most of this: the parts came from plate, but if anything in the box turns out to be a cast alloy with a high silicon content, the colour will come out dull and blotchy — please tell me before the bath, not after it, and we will decide what to do with those pieces. I also want to agree dimensions in advance: the coating adds a few microns per side, and I have bearing seats and threaded holes that I am ready to ream or chase with a tap, but only if I know beforehand. The racking points will leave a mark, so show them on a sketch and I will pick a face that is never seen.
One more thing I care about: acid baths and current are not a garage job. The work must be done in a proper shop with extraction, protective equipment for the people doing it and lawful disposal of the spent solution. I am not looking for anything improvised.
What I need:
— deburr the edges and prepare the surface for a matt look;
— mask the threaded holes and the bearing seats;
— anodise one trial part first and get the tone approved by me;
— run the batch in two colours, each consistent across its group;
— agree the location of the racking marks and the coating thickness;
— pack the parts separately so that nothing rubs in transit;
— quote a price and a lead time for the final part count.
