Project description
What I expect from you. First, a measurement session with a calibrated microphone: frequency response at the listening position, waterfall or decay times per band, and a short written reading of what is actually wrong, not a generic lecture. Then a layout: where the desk and monitors should stand relative to the walls, the equilateral triangle for the listening point, first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling marked with tape, and a cloud above the desk. Corner bass traps floor to ceiling on the front wall, plus whatever the measurement says about the rear corners. I care about the mineral wool density, the air gap behind the panels and the breathable fabric, so tell me the specification and let me buy the materials myself if that is cheaper.
The second half of the job is the neighbours. I sing at night, and the flat above hears it. I do not expect a bunker, but I want the door properly sealed with a compressed perimeter gasket and a drop seal at the threshold, the frame decoupled where it makes sense, and a floating floor or at least a resilient layer under the vocal booth so the stand does not pump structural noise into the slab. Ventilation must stay silent: the booth cannot be an airless box, so a duct with lined bends and a low airflow speed is part of the brief, not an extra.
The booth itself is small, about 1.1 by 1.4 metres in the corner, framed and decoupled from the walls, with a window so I can see the screen. Please give me a stage plan with cost per item, and after the work is finished repeat the measurement so we can compare before and after in numbers. Photos of the build are welcome. I have ten days while the flat is free.
