Project description

We run a small food packaging line, and composition and expiry labels are currently prepared by hand: someone copies batch numbers and ingredient percentages into a label template before every shift. Mistakes slip through — an old recipe version ends up on a package, or the expiry date is calculated from the wrong production time. We want to remove manual retyping from this and print labels automatically as products are packed.

Our accounting system already stores batch numbers, production dates and current recipes, so the data just never reaches the label printer on its own. We need it to flow straight to a printer at the packaging station, so a label prints the moment a batch is confirmed, with no operator typing. When a recipe changes — a supplier substitution, a new percentage, an added allergen — the ingredient list and allergen warning must recalculate automatically, not come from a cached template.

We are open to different approaches: a script querying our database, a small local service on the packaging PC, or an add-on for the accounting software itself. Reliability matters most, since a wrong composition or date on a food label is a compliance issue.

Please describe your experience with:
— label printing integration with a database or accounting system
— barcode/label printer drivers and print server setup
— automatic recalculation of composition and allergens

How to write a response that gets picked

  • Open with the client’s task, not with a story about yourself.
  • Link one or two similar works from your portfolio.
  • Name a price and a deadline — and what exactly they include.
  • Ask one clarifying question: it starts the conversation.
