Project description

We run a greenhouse operation with a growing vertical-farm section, and right now we are managing everything by eye and by handwritten notes. We need a monitoring system that pulls readings from sensors across the whole facility: air temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration, light level (PAR/lux), and soil or substrate moisture in every growing zone. The readings should stream into a real-time dashboard so that our agronomist and the night shift can see the state of each rack and each bed at a glance, without walking the rows with a clipboard.

The core of the job is alerts and automation. When a value drifts outside the safe band for a given crop, the system must notify us immediately through the dashboard and by push or messenger, with the zone, the parameter and how far it has drifted clearly stated. On top of that we want automated climate and irrigation control: the system should be able to switch ventilation, heating, humidification, grow lights and drip valves according to schedules and thresholds we set per crop, and fall back safely if a sensor goes offline. Everything should keep a history so we can review what happened overnight.

We also need a crop log where staff record plantings, treatments, feedings and harvests tied to each zone, so that sensor history and human actions sit side by side. Please describe your relevant experience and the hardware you would recommend.

— Sensor ingest: temperature, humidity, CO2, light, soil/substrate moisture
— Real-time dashboards per zone, rack and bed
— Threshold alerts via dashboard and push/messenger
— Automated ventilation, heating, humidification, lighting and irrigation
— Crop logs and historical charts for review

How to write a response that gets picked

  • Open with the client’s task, not with a story about yourself.
  • Link one or two similar works from your portfolio.
  • Name a price and a deadline — and what exactly they include.
  • Ask one clarifying question: it starts the conversation.
