About the service
I design and stitch a coordinated set for your dog or cat: a triangle or bandana-style neck piece plus a soft fabric cover that slips over the existing collar, both carrying your pet's name and a decorative motif done entirely by hand needle and thread rather than a printed transfer or machine monogram font.
The process starts with a short conversation about your pet: breed, neck measurement, coat color, and the kind of look you want, from a simple classic monogram to a fuller design with flowers, leaves, stars, bones, paws, or a small seasonal motif around the lettering. I sketch the layout first and share a photo so you can approve the placement, letter style, and thread palette before a single stitch goes into the fabric.
Fabric choice matters for comfort and durability. For everyday wear I recommend a sturdy cotton twill or canvas base with a soft cotton lining against the skin, pre-washed and pre-shrunk so the finished piece keeps its shape wash after wash. Edges are folded and finished by hand or machine-overlocked underneath the embroidery so nothing frays or scratches. The collar cover is cut to fit snugly over your existing buckle collar, closing with hidden snaps or hook-and-loop tape so it stays put during walks and play but comes off easily for cleaning.
The embroidery itself uses satin stitch for solid lettering, stem stitch for fine outlines, and French knots or lazy daisy stitch for small floral accents, all worked in colorfast cotton or polyester thread chosen to stand up to sun, water, and repeated washing. I keep stitch tension even and dense enough that the letters read clearly from a normal walking distance, which matters if the set is also meant to help identify your pet or simply look sharp in photos.
Turnaround is typically one to two weeks depending on design complexity and my current queue, and I always confirm your pet's neck size again before cutting fabric to avoid a poor fit. I'm happy to make a matching pair for two pets, add a coordinating small bow or bandana tail detail, or keep the palette consistent with a favorite leash or bed if you send reference photos. If you already have a name and color scheme in mind, send them over and I'll put together a mockup before we start; if you'd rather I propose a design from scratch based on your pet's personality and coloring, I can do that too and we'll refine it together until it's exactly right.
