About the service
A photograph is stored on your phone and fades over time, but a painting hangs on the wall and becomes part of the home, part of the family's history. I paint family portraits on canvas by hand from your photograph — in oil or acrylic, without prints or photo printing, with a real brush and paints, paying attention to each face.
The work begins with a photograph that you send. I carefully study the lighting, facial expressions, skin tones and small details that make you recognize this particular person — a characteristic tilt of the head, the color of a child's eyes, the texture of a favorite sweater. Then I sketch the composition, select a palette and gradually build the portrait in layers. Oil provides deep, smoothly transitioning tones and a classic look; acrylic gives a slightly brighter result and dries faster if you're on a tight schedule. Both materials are archival quality and do not fade or crack with normal care.
I offer different canvas sizes — from a small 30x40 cm for a shelf to a large 60x90 cm as an accent in the living room. I can paint from one photo or combine several images if you want each person to look their best: for example, add a relative who wasn't in the group shot, or include a grandmother from an old photograph if she is no longer with us. The background can be simplified, softened or stylized, and the color of clothing can be chosen to match your interior if desired.
Each order includes a sketch or color version of the composition before the main work begins, one correction to the sketch, photographs of the process at various stages and the finished canvas at the end — signed, varnished, stretched on a stretcher and ready to hang on the wall without additional framing if you don't need it. I pack the finished work carefully and send it with a tracking number, either in a roll or in rigid packaging depending on the size.
Such a portrait is often ordered for a wedding, anniversary, housewarming, in memory of a loved one, or simply so that a beautiful family photo finally ends up on the wall instead of in your phone's gallery. I have been professionally painting portraits for several years and approach each order the way I would want someone to approach a portrait of my own family — because for you this is not just an interior decoration, but a keepsake that will outlive the photograph itself. Write to me with a reference photo and desired size — I will send you the cost and timeframe within a day.
