About the service

I'm a potter and throw ceramic garden planters and vases by hand on the wheel — each pot is centered and pulled from a piece of chamotte clay designed for year-round outdoor use. Working on the wheel means two vases in a set will never be perfectly identical — that's the value of handmade ceramics as opposed to cast garden pots.

I make custom sets: number of vases in a set — usually three to seven, diameter — from compact 12 cm for succulents to large floor planters 40 cm, wall thickness chosen for your climate — thicker walls and chamotte body for regions with hard freezes, thinner and more elegant clay for terraces and greenhouses. Each planter has a proper drainage hole (and large floor models have several holes around the base) and a slightly raised foot so water doesn't pool under the pot and stain the terrace.

Glazes — your choice: matte ceramic glazes in natural tones (terracotta, moss, graphite, ivory), clear food-safe glaze over raw clay for a textured 'raw' look, and reactive glazes with runs and color breaks for a more painterly effect. All glazes are tested for outdoor durability — frost and UV resistant, fired at temperatures suitable for stoneware so pots don't crack or crumble after a winter outside.

Important clarification: this offer is specifically for garden and outdoor ceramics, planters for plants, vases for herbs, and decorative outdoor vessels. This is separate from my line of handmade ceramic bathroom accessories (soap dish, cup, toothbrush holder) — if you need bathroom ceramics, look for that other set.

How the work progresses: first a short consultation about sizes, quantity, and glaze palette, then I throw and trim each vase, bisque fire it, glaze, and do the final firing, then carefully pack for shipping or arrange pickup. Custom set production usually takes two to three weeks depending on kiln load. I've been throwing pottery for over ten years and have shipped planter sets across the country without a single breakage — each pot is individually wrapped with formed padding. Tell me the dimensions of your space, your style, and what plants you plan to grow — I'll select sizes and a glaze palette that will last years outdoors.
