About the service
I do artistic wood turning and make bowls to order entirely on a lathe — no hand carving, no woodburning, just precise shaving of a rotating blank until the shape reveals itself. Each bowl is turned from a solid piece of hardwood and retains the natural grain pattern, growth rings and wood texture.
Before I start work, I discuss with the customer the diameter, depth, type of wood and purpose of the piece — for fruit, as a decor element or a gift. I work with oak, walnut, maple, ash and other hardwoods, and can select a blank with interesting texture or a live edge. After rough turning, the blank dries, then comes final turning, sanding with gradually decreasing grit and coating with food-safe oil or wax that's safe for product contact.
At each stage I send photos — from the blank to the finished piece, so you see how the wood grain reveals itself. The production time depends on the wood's moisture and the complexity of the shape, but I keep you informed of the process.
What's included in the order:
— One bowl turned on a lathe, size by agreement
— Agreement on wood type and coating type
— Photo report as work progresses
— Food-safe oil or wax coating
— Reliable packaging for shipping
