About the service
I am a Perl developer and build tools that quietly keep systems running. I write console scripts, cron jobs, and long-lived backend services that parse text, transform data, and tie different systems together. Perl is my tool here by choice: when the task is heavy text, massive logs, mixed data formats, or a pipeline that needs to be reliable rather than pretty, a well-written Perl script still beats almost everything on speed of delivery and pure processing power. I actively rely on regular expressions but keep them readable and documented so the next person who opens the file does not curse the previous author.
Much of my work is rescuing Perl legacy. Many companies have critical scripts written years ago by someone now gone, without tests, without comments, and full of hidden assumptions. I read such code carefully, reproduce its behavior, wrap it in tests, and then refactor it into something maintainable. I can bring code to modern Perl practices, introduce proper modules, add strict and warnings, and untangle spaghetti without breaking what the business depends on. If something must work exactly as before, I treat that as a hard requirement and verify it rather than hope.
Beyond maintenance I build new automation from scratch: report generators, data importers and exporters, file and directory processors, database and external service integrations, small daemons that watch and respond. I care about clear logging, sensible error handling, and scripts that fail explicitly rather than silently corrupt data. Describe the task and constraints — and I will hand you a tool that is documented, tested, and ready to run in your environment.
