Project description:
Remote work for a QGIS specialist. You need to compare tourist attendance for 2 seasons in QGIS. The project aims to identify the growth rates of tourism activity in various regions of the Antarctic Peninsula. At the output, you will need screenshots of the work and a brief description of the work in QGIS.
Methods/Actions listed
You will be provided with Excel data on the number of guests who visited a particular location within the Antarctic Ocean at the end of the requested season. Each season is determined based on the year of its beginning and the year of its ending (for example, “2019-2020” is one season), and tourist activity is highest during the southern summer – from about October to March.
O The initial data analysed in the proposed project will include the names of the locations, the coordinates of the locations and the number of individual tourists who visited each specific location. Once the data is effectively formatted in Google Sheets or MS Excel, it must be imported into QGIS and the XY data will be displayed for each location as point objects. The azimuth equidistant projection of the South Pole will be selected to minimize distortions to the study area.
O Object classes for each individual season data will be displayed using “graduated color” symbols standardized based on a set of 5 classes.
O Then, object classes will be selected for two seasons: 2003-2004. And visitor numbers in 2019-2020 season for contrasting growth
The final step is to compare the number of visitors for each season and display this in a new layer based on the change in their growth.
I have a referent of the same project that was done in ArcGIS, which will be a great help to the work that needs to be done in QGIS.
But I need you to send all the screens (or at least 5-7) of the work performed with the visibility of the entire program interface, not the cropped versions that are in the reference. Send 3 separate images as a separate file, which are presented as the results of your work:
1 – visits for the season 2019-2020, following the example of the reference Fig1, Fig2b (with the same scaling as in the reference, and highlighting the hottest, that is, the area visited)
2 – visits for the 2003-2004 season, following the example of the Fig4, Fig4b referent (with the same scaling as in the referent, and highlighting the hottest, that is, the area visited)
3 – comparisons of visits indicating decline, for example from the reference Fig1, Fig1b (with the same scaling as in the reference, and highlighting the hottest, that is, the area visited)
*4 – If you can take the same zoning image of the Antarctic area of attendance (Fig 4) as you can see in the reference, please let me know.
