As some scholars believe, body painting is the most ancient form of painting. It is reliably known that representatives of past civilizations would not set off on a hunt or declare war without war paint on their bodies. In those times, the materials for applying body designs were colored clay, plant dyes, charcoal, and soot. Today, special hypoallergenic paints, harmless to humans, are used for this kind of painting, and body art is not only a means of self-expression but also a true art form.
