Work description:
A cure for a hundred ailments, fragrant callisia, or as folk call this plant - the golden whisker. A perennial plant, it belongs to the Commelinaceae family and reaches 2 m in height. The plant got its nickname "golden whisker" because of its long lateral shoots, which grow up to 1 meter long.
This plant was born in tropical forests, where it is found as grass creeping along clearings and slopes. Fragrant callisia loves warmth and feels comfortable at 22-26 degrees of warmth in summer, while in winter 16-18 degrees is enough. If the temperature norm is not observed in winter, callisia may stretch out greatly. In summer you can safely take the plant outside, only, for the golden whisker to feel comfortable, be sure to place it in the shade. It loves light, but under no circumstances keep the golden whisker under direct sunlight (especially evening light); the plant may lose its color and stop forming whiskers, and it may also get burns - this threatens the appearance of yellow spots on the leaves. It tolerates shade well, so it can be placed on windows facing north.
Dark green, oblong-lanceolate leaves 5-6 cm wide and 20-30 cm long. The plant rarely blooms in home conditions; to see flowers on the golden whisker requires careful care. The flowers themselves are small pink, blue, or white, gathered into axillary inflorescences in the form of double or simple curls. The flowers do not attract much attention, but the scent is very delicate, pleasant, strong, and reminiscent of the aroma of hyacinths or lilies of the valley.
