Work description:
What comes to your mind when a concept like "art therapy" is mentioned? I think many of you form associations such as healing through drawing or healing through painting. But that would not be entirely accurate; it is a person's attempt to find themselves, to know their inner world, and a means of reaching new heights in art. The methods of art therapy help to heal a tormented soul by drawing on the support of creativity and art.
Art therapy is one of the methods of treatment through psychotherapy. This method uses artistic and creative techniques, as well as sculpting, painting, art, film, and other approaches, to free the personality from the complexes that torment it and to correct its psychology.
The history of art therapy
art-terapija1Even in ancient times people began to notice that symbols and drawings possess healing properties. They came to be used in various ritual practices, and meanings associated with magic began to be ascribed to them. Resorting to the aid of song and dance, shamans entered a trance and tried to summon various spirits. Even today we wear amulets bearing images of various symbols capable of protecting us from dark forces or evil influence. In Tibet, so-called mandalas (drawings used in religion) are used for meditation. Various drawings and symbols were present among all peoples and were used for magical, spiritual, and healing purposes.
