Bringing the past and present closer together.
This year our country marks the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow in the Great Patriotic War. On November 29, in the Hall of Glory of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Hill, a ceremonial presentation of copies of the Banner of Victory was held for representatives of universities whose students and staff took part in the defense of the city of Moscow during the war.
The Moscow State University of Printing Arts named after Ivan Fedorov was also honored to join the ranks of those receiving this valuable symbol of the war years. Svetlana Morozova, director of the Museum of the History of Printing and Book Publishing at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts named after Ivan Fedorov, and student representative Varvara Grafova received the Banner of Victory from the hands of the soldiers of the Honor Guard of the Moscow Kremlin.
"A great nation is not only the one that performed a feat, but precisely the one whose young generation cherishes the memory and loyalty to that sacred feat. And today we have gathered in a sacred place to remember the courage and resilience of the Soviet people, and most importantly - to bring the past and present closer together," said Lyudmila Shvetsova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Social Policy, addressing those gathered.
The Banner of Victory, along with the State Flag of Russia, is a sacred nationwide symbol embodying the heroic feat of our people, who defeated a terrible enemy in a deadly battle. Passing on the Banner of Victory is the passing on of the Memory of the Great Victory from generation to generation.
An official copy of the Banner of Victory is now kept in the Museum of the Moscow State University of Printing Arts named after Ivan Fedorov.
