Work description:
This building material was used many centuries ago, in particular, in the construction of the Roman Colosseum. In deep antiquity it consisted of huge blocks of crushed stone and the components binding it together. In the modern world, agglomerate is the result of applying high technologies in construction production.
Agglomerate. What is it?
Agglomerate is an artificial stone made from crushed stone of various rocks: marble, granite, and quartzite. The role of the binding material is played by cement or polyester oils.
In addition, in order for the agglomerate to have refined, non-existent colors, pigments of mineral origin are added to the mixture, as well as metal shavings, aventurine, colored glass, or shell rock. Thanks to high technologies, it is possible to produce agglomerated tiles with geometric ornaments and colorful floral motifs. Such diverse shades and compositions can be used in a wide variety of designer color schemes.
Sometimes, to add strength, a fiberglass mesh is laid inside the agglomerate.
Uses of agglomerates
Agglomerate is used for the exterior and interior finishing of premises. It is used for cladding stairs, floors, pools, etc. It is also an excellent material for producing:
• Steps.
• Wall panels.
• Window sills.
• Bar counters.
Cast agglomerate, up to three centimeters thick, is used for making kitchen countertops. Thanks to high technologies, such material makes any agglomerate resistant to moisture and frost. But for finishing facades, window drip caps, and entrance groups, the best option will be agglomerate stone made on a cement base, as it tolerates temperature fluctuations remarkably well.
